Peter Phillips

Peter Phillips (b. 1939) is an English painter and one of the leading figures of the British Pop Art movement. Born in Birmingham, he studied at the Birmingham School of Art and later at the Royal College of Art in London. Phillips is known for his brightly coloured, large-scale works that often incorporate imagery from mass media, advertising, and popular culture, blending elements of fine art with commercial aesthetics. His work includes painting, collage, and assemblage, frequently using mechanical and geometric forms. Phillips' art has been exhibited internationally, and he has been recognised as a key figure in shaping the visual language of Pop Art during the 1960s and beyond. He has continued to experiment with various media throughout his career and remains active in the contemporary art scene.
