Emrys Williams

Emrys Williams (1903–1977) was a notable Welsh artist known for his contributions to modern art in Wales. Born in Porthmadog, Gwynedd, Williams pursued formal art education at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, where he honed his skills and became familiar with contemporary art movements.

Williams' work often featured the landscapes and cultural heritage of Wales, reflecting his deep connection to the region. His paintings included landscapes, still lifes, and portraits characterised by a blend of realism and abstraction.

He exhibited his work widely, including at the Royal Academy and other prominent galleries. In addition to his artistic practice, Williams was involved in teaching, helping to shape the next generation of Welsh artists.
